Additional Information

Charles was baptised at Tadley, and on 16 Nov 1845 at Wootton St Lawrence he married Charlotte TIBBEL, the daughter of John and Ann TIBBEL, also of West Heath. Both Charles and his father Edward are described in the marriage register as Sawyer. I have not been able to find the family in either the 1851 or the 1881 UK Censuses. It appears, from US burial records for Michigan, that Charles and Charlotte emigrated to America along with Charles' cousins Anthony and Edmund. They certainly feature in the US 1880 Census for Troy:
