Edmund followed his brother Anthony to Iowa, USA, and settled there. He married Mary Jane ELLIOTT, the daughter of Lucena SWET and Warren ELLIOTT. She had been born in New York State on 28 Feb 1836, and died 28 Apr 1899 aged 63.
Edmund and Anthony settled in Monroe Township, Benton County, Iowa. The Edmund RAMPTON family lived on land just across the road to the east of the Anthony RAMPTON farm. In 1883, Edmund and Mary Jane sold their land to their son Frank Warren. Edmund and Mary Jane are buried in the Rampton Cemetery in Monroe Township.
In the 1880 US Census, Edmund and family can be seen living in close proximity to Anthony.
