Emily died unmarried on 30 Dec 1856, aged 28. She is described on her death certificate as Daughter of Christopher Rampton, Agricultural Labourer, and the cause of death is given as Phthisis, the old name for Tuberculosis. Christopher registered her death, and she was buried on 3 Jan 1857 at MS. A George William Rampton, son of Emily Rampton, was baptised on 1 Aug 1852 at MS. Could this be the same Emily? He was certainly born in MS, on 29 Jun 1852, but the birth certificate gives no other clues, as Emily registered his birth herself. In the 1871 census, there was a George W Rampton, aged 18 and a farm servant, living at The Vyne Farm Sherborne St John; he said had been born in Tadley. I have not as yet been able to locate him in any later census.
