Additional Information

In 1852, Ann bore a son whom she named David Lawrence RAMPTON; a year later she married the father, Henry LAWRENCE. I don't know why she waited so long before marrying him. The marriage certificate says that Henry was a bachelor, so there was no first wife causing the delay. Perhaps, since Ann was only 19 years old at the time of David's birth, her father Charles refused to give his permission for the marriage, and finally relented when she was 20. I have been unable to find anything, so far, on David Lawrence's subsequent history.

In the 1881 Census, the Lawrence family can be found living at Knowle Farm Cottage Whitchurch, next door to James and Laura RAMPTON (Ann's brother and Henry's sister). With them was living their granddaughter Alice JACKSON aged 2, born in Croydon, SRY.
