Henry and Ann LAWRENCE, James's sister and brother-in-law, were witnesses when he married Laura. So far, I have been unable to find any children from this marriage. In 1861, the couple were living in Tufton with Charlotte Lawrence, Laura's widowed mother. There were no children listed, although they had by this time been married for five years. In 1881, James and Laura were living in Knowle Farm Cottage, Whitchurch, next door to Henry and Ann LAWRENCE (James's sister and Laura's brother) and James and Laura were still there in 1891, this time with James's niece Alice Jackson. In 1901, James appears to be living either with, or at least very close to, his cousin John and wife Jane in Whitchurch. Even though he was 75 he was still described as an Agricultural Labourer. James died in the workhouse, aged 81.
