Additional Information

In the 1881 census, the family was living at Weybourne Lane, Farnham Surrey. In the 1891 census, they were living in Aldershot, Surrey. In 1901, Austin and Charlotte were still living in Aldershot, with two sons, Austin [Auther] - a labourer at the gasworks - and Richard - a carter with the district council. The name of Auther is a bit of a puzzle! The 1901 census entry which named him Austin could have been a mistake either in the original or by the transcriber (the information is taken from the PRO website index, as I have not seen the original), or his name could have been Arthur and it was consistently misspelled - there is certainly a GRO Birth Index entry for Arthur Rampton in the Farnham Registration District in September 1877.
