Additional Information

The Marriage Allegation for the marriage of John and Mary states that the bride was a spinster and that she was of Bramley. I have not, however, been able to identify her in the Baptism records for the parish of Bramley Hampshire. Moreover, they do not appear to have baptised any children in either Bramley or Basingstoke, nor in Tadley before 1726. It was very unusual for a couple to have no children for ten years after they were married, so where did they spend the intervening period? There is evidence that they had at least one other child, Mary, who later married John PRIOR. The Marriage Banns record shows that Richard BARLOW was one of the witnesses, linking this Mary into the family, since he was Martha's husband.
