Additional Information

I have been unable to establish categorically that John was the son of John and Sarah, but feel reasonably sure that he was, given his age at death and the lack of any other evidence concerning his birth. He is credited, in the parish register, with fathering John Humphries out of wedlock, but it seems it took him a year to get round to marrying Sarah! At the time of his marriage, the register states that both Sarah and John were "of this parish", so he had been established in Froyle for some time.
