Robert was the only one of his siblings not born in Bishops Sutton. In 1891, he was living with his widowed mother in Bighton; in 1901, he was living in St Bartholomew Hyde Winchester. He seems to have emigrated to Australia, and served as a Private in the Australian Army, having enlisted 30 Sep 1939. He was discharged on 17 Sep 1944. His wife's name, and his place of birth, are noted on his service record, and his place of residence was Woodville South Australia.
