Additional Information

This chart is largely speculative at the moment. Despite both Thomas and Joan being described as Of Herriard, they applied for and were granted a marriage licence, the marriage to be performed in Herriard, Medstead or Binstead. They chose to marry in Herriard, but does the application imply that one or other of them actually lived in either Medstead or Binstead? Did they live in either of thos places after marriage? They certainly did not baptise any children in Herriard, and so I have speculated that the two children who married in 1759 and 1760 were theirs - they do not appear to belong to anyone else. Of Thomas's two brothers, John appears to have died before 1730 (since he is not mentioned in his father's will) and Francis died in 1741, having moved to South Warnborough and whilst he might very well have married and had children I have no evidence of any for him either.
