There were no Ramptons living in Monk Sherborne at the time of the 1881 census, and I could find only one who admitted to having been born in MS. That was George, aged 54 and unmarried, who was a Labourer living in Tadley. This was most probably the son of Richard RAMPTON and Mary BYE, baptised on 23 Apr 1828 at MS, as I certainly have not been able to find any other mention of that George.
