Additional Information
George has been difficult to track down before 1881, since his army service seems to have taken him to distant places, his family travelling with him. When he was pensioned out of the army (he had been a Sergeant in the 10th Brigade of the Royal Artillery) he decided to take up residence near his wife's family. He died of lung congestion at the early age of 55, and his daughter Lydia (or Veletta as she was named on her death certificate) died a month later, apparently of hysteria.
